The concept of Thalasopolis is an idea that proposes the creation of self-sufficient communities built on water. This idea stems from growing concerns about climate change, rising sea levels, diminishing natural resources, and overpopulation on land.
The idea of this project involves constructing a floating mega-city at sea, which is entirely resilient and energy self-sufficient. The city will be composed of curved modules inspired by ship design, with aerodynamic shapes to reduce wind and water resistance, and made from highly corrosion-resistant materials.
Each of these modules will be designed to be energy-efficient and generate its own electricity using solar panels and wind turbines. Additionally, advanced technologies will be utilized for wastewater treatment and rainwater harvesting to provide drinking water, as well as implementing waste recycling and composting systems.
One of the most important features of this city would be the inclusion of large internal gardens within each module, which will not only provide green and natural spaces for residents but also help improve air quality and reduce environmental impact.
Connections between different modules will be facilitated by bridges, allowing residents to move easily and safely between different areas of the city.
The sea city will focus on preserving the environment and marine biodiversity. This can be achieved by protecting marine life and restoring marine ecosystems.
Furthermore, the city will be designed to withstand extreme weather events such as hurricanes and tsunamis.
Residents will have access to basic services such as schools, shops, healthcare services, sports facilities, among others, in addition to a circular economy.
